Paths at Serifos

Info

Serifos is characterized by rich geodiversity, biodiversity, cultural heritage and folk tradition, while since 2002 it has been included in the Atlas of Aegean Geological Monuments of the Ministry of the Aegean with the Koutalas Cave and the Mineral Appearances - Iron Mines.

The trails of Serifos, a network that exceeds 46.4 km, were created from ancient times for the needs of rural and livestock life but also for the Mines of Serifos (such as the road of the Miners) and were used daily. Nowadays, the paths pass through traditional villages, picturesque chapels and it is a unique way to discover an authentic, unexplored island of Cyclades, hospitable and impressive, at all seasons!

The Hiking Network has a logo that connects the history and the nature of the island, as in ancient times, the frog was the symbol of the island. Also, the title "Iron and stone paths" reflects the geology of the island, but also its mythology, during which Perseus with the head of Medusa petrified the whole island.
